Le Gorgacce Villa

Posto tranquillo stile rustico romantico piscina grande, Jacuzzi top ,sauna 😍e soprattutto vista mozzafiato che solo quella si merita le cinque stelle

We spent a lovely week at Le Gorgacce Villa in Santa Maria Tiberina. The villa is perched high on a hill with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and local village. We were met by the lovely Alessandro who showed us round and even got some shopping in for us from the local town. The bedrooms and villa are very traditional in design and allow everyone to have their own space being spread over 3 floors. The pool area is a feature with a huge pool (50ft by 20ft), outdoor dining table, sun beds and kitchen area. Under the pool area is a tv room, sauna and a cute looking glass into the pool. We had a few evening meals cooked at the villa by the lovely Isabella, rustic, tasty local cuisine. The nearest village Monte Santa Maria Tiberina Is a 5 minute drive and is beautiful to walk around with amazing views. The best restaurant is Oscari which is a must for lunch or dinner; they cater for children, families and groups, simply 5 star value for money. Overall a beautiful week in a lovely remote area. One point to note, the villa is located up a steep track which can be tricky to navigate (not for the faint hearted) so be prepared. I would suggest the villa is perfect for families or friends who want to have time together whilst enjoying the tranquility around. Perugia is 1 hour away, Cortona is 35min, Cita del Castello 15min, lake trasemino 45min so although remote you can have great day trips out.
If I had to offer any feedback from our stay it would be:
1. As it is a remote location it would be good to have access to a pool table, table tennis etc (there was a table folded up in car park). Luckily we brought our own entertainment but with such a huge property having a games room would help entertain the kids.
2. There are 2 lovely sun beds which are super premium and comfortable. There are then 6 very old, rickety beds, which are uncomfortable and don’t fit the premium villa, hence everyone was desperate to get the 2 nice ones. Maybe time for an upgrade.
3. On 2 days it rained, as such along with the games room if the main tv in pool house was a smart tv (all TVs are very basic with minimal English channels) we could have streamed Netflix, Sky Go etc (Especially as cricket was on!)
4. Kitchen whilst lovely in the basement, in preparing food the knives were very blunt and could do with replacing. Also the coffee machine was a bit mouldy which once we cleaned was fine.

Overall a perfectly lovely week and definitely a place we would return to. A big thank you to Alessandro and Isabella for looking after us so well
