We enjoyed our stay, but the information provided beforehand was insufficient and there were issues (booked via VRBO). This review includes info we would have appreciated. I have provided some specific feedback directly to the owner and manager.
Access via a 2km rough unpaved road (this was mentioned) up a hill through a farm. Google street view shows the gate, but it is a fair bit further. We were glad we had an SUV.
The villa is charming but very rustic. Spectacular views, especially from the tower. Mosquitos were an issue in June, so go prepared. We also found a couple of small scorpions. Insect screens not present on most windows or were damaged. Kitchen quite basic. Modern fridge and dishwasher; washing machine ancient (but clean) and difficult to use as numbers have rubbed off; gas stove with whistling kettle. Linen and towels very clean but some mattresses should be replaced.
None of the (many) bathrooms have overhead showers and water pressure is poor. There is an overhead shower in the pool room but the pressure not great. Good internet via 4G wifi hub (which can be moved to pool area if needed). Dated TV without aerial.
Some of the bedrooms are in the eaves and were very hot, although we did visit during the heat wave! These rooms particularly would benefit from proper insect screens or bed nets.
Pool was in great condition and well maintained. It is behind the nearby home of the estate manager, 50m down the hill. Pool room has lounge area with fridge, camping stove and bathroom, and patio furniture next to the pool, but not a proper kitchen or patio cups/crockery. Loungers and deck chairs provided.
Manager was friendly, helpful and gave useful info about the area. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us around. His English was pretty good but it would still have been helpful to have important information in a welcome pack.
We weren't charged for utilities (VRBO listing states this would be charged at the end).
